The Counsel of the Wicked

Job’s good friends implied that he had been wicked, which is why he suffered. However, one of his responses to that was to state that the wicked grow and become mighty, their children live on, their houses are safe, their cattle multiply, they celebrate, they die suddenly and all the time they say that they want no part of God (Job 21.7–16). Job said, “The counsel of the wicked is far from me” (Job 21.16b).

Job never despised God or His ways. Therefore, Job’s friends completely misjudged him, but Job still did not understand why he suffered so immensely.

We cannot always know why we suffer. What shall we do then? Always remain faithful to God.

 

Send for a Preacher

An angel told a Roman centurion to send for a preacher, “Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do” (Acts 10.5, 6).

Interestingly, the angel did not tell the centurion what he needed to hear, because God wants people speaking the truth to people. Therefore, the Lord used an angel to get a meeting set up between a preacher and someone who would hear and obey the gospel.

Another interesting thing is this. The angel did not tell the centurion to go to the preacher, but that the Roman should send messengers to retrieve the preacher. The angel knew that the centurion had duties to fulfill and that he needed to remain where he was.

The Lord worked behind the scenes, even as He does today, to bring together the teacher or preacher and someone hungering for the truth. Therefore, pray to God that He get you in contact with people who want to hear the truth.
