God Could Have Wiped Out Egypt

Before the Lord unleashed the seventh plague upon Egypt, He said to Pharaoh,

“Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the earth. But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth” (Exodus 9.15–16).

As wicked and arrogant as Egypt, and especially Pharaoh, had become, the Lord was ready to wipe out the nation, but He did not because He had a special plan to use Pharaoh and Egypt to display great power, which the Lord demonstrated during the ten plagues upon the mighty superpower.

The Lord exalts and He humbles, and sometimes He allows either one to display some attribute of His that the world may see Him for who He is. DR

Why Did Jesus Come to the Earth?

He left the place where we want to go, and went to the place we want to leave. Why would He do such a thing?

“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost” (Matthew 18.11).

That tells me two things:

1. He loves us greatly to make such a sacrifice.

2. There must be some horrible danger from which we need to be saved.

Are you saved? DR
