Got something to say? Go for it!
“The church’s job is to save people and then to keep them saved?” Then what is Jesus’ job? Isn’t the church’s job just to tell people about Jesus, what He did and why He did it? And then leave the saving job to Jesus? Is the church God?
The Lord does not do it alone, and we do not do it alone, but as it is written, “We are God’s fellow workers” (1Co 3.9). For this reason the Holy Spirit says, “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins” (Jam 5.19–20), and again, “He who wins souls is wise” (Pro 11.30), and finally, “[We] have become all things to all men, that [we] might by all means save some” (1Co 9.22).
Therefore, it is not an, “either-or,” proposition, but a, “both-and,” proposition. It is not either God does it all or man does it all, but it is both God and we work together to save lost souls or seek to keep the saved, saved. Of course, ultimately everything is of God. We are not the main part at all, but we do have a part. To answer Cain’s question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” yes, Cain, we are our brother’s keeper.
Very good answer.
