The Encouragement of Moses

By Don Ruhl

The time of Moses’ departure from the earth had arrived. Then he spoke to the man set to replace him in leading Israel, and Moses said to that man, Joshua, “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deu 31.8).

Picture yourself as Joshua and you have just heard Moses speak those words to you, and you know how the Lord has been with Moses. Shall you fail at what you do for the Lord? No way!

If you are with the Lord, He is with you, and if your works are done in the name of Jesus Christ, you shall succeed, unless He has something else He wants you to do.

The Kind of Parents Children Need

By Don Ruhl

When God sent John into the world to announce the arrival of King Jesus, look at the parents God selected through whom John would enter the world, “And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless” (Luke 1.6).

They obviously reared John to do the same and see what they unleashed on the world, the forerunner of the Lord of heaven and earth!

What kind of children do you want to deliver to the world? Use the parents of John as your models. That will not guarantee that you shall have a John the Baptizer-like child, but it certainly will bring you closer to it.
