Following the Lord’s Orders

Joshua and Israel fought the inhabitants of the Land of Canaan, as the Lord directed, which included destroying any vestiges of the people, “So Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him: he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire” (Jos 11.9).

If the Lord is God, He knows what He is doing, and we have to obey Him, even as Joshua did.

Do you have a hard time obeying some of His commands? If so, check your attitude toward Him. DR

Massive Temptation

When I think of the time that Satan tempted Jesus at the beginning of His ministry, I think of the size of the temptations; they were massive, such as after Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms that would ever be on earth, “And the devil said to Him, ‘All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours’” (Luke 4.6, 7).

Would you have rejected that temptation? Hopefully, all of us would. I want to say that I would resist any offer that meant I had to worship Satan, but the fact is, I have sinned, I have given in to temptation, and the temptations were not anything approaching the magnitude of what Satan offered Jesus.

What did Jesus do with this temptation anyway? “And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve”’” (Luke 4.8).

Let us determine that we shall worship God no matter what. DR
