A Summation of the Book of Revelation

See what John saw

Revelation 1.1–3

Don Ruhl • Savage Street, Grants Pass, Oregon • April 21, In the year of our Lord, 2013

Prelude

  1. After Jesus died, came back from the dead, and ascended to heaven,
    1. the church grew rapidly.
    2. Then the Jews persecuted the church, but
      1. that did not stop the church
      2. rather the church seemed to grow more and faster.
  2. Then as the first century ended
    1. a greater and more powerful force
    2. began to attack the church bitterly.
  3. Would the church even make it out of the first century?
    1. Would the heavy hand of Roman persecution
    2. do what the Jewish nation could not do?
  4. Imagine that you have seen numerous of your brethren die, and
    1. you might be next.
    2. You need a message of encouragement.
    3. Then the Lord uses John to write the things that he saw – Rev 1.11
