When We Need the Lord’s Goodness

In Nahum 1.1–6, the prophet showed the Lord God in His vengeance, as Nineveh would experience it, but then the prophet said, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, and darkness will pursue His enemies” (Nahum 1.7–8).

When the Lord God of heaven and earth pours out His wrath on a nation, there is much to fear for that nation, but those who trust in the Lord will find His goodness and that He is a stronghold in the day of trouble.

The nations at the present are increasing their wrath against God, and someday He shall respond, but make sure that you have put your trust in Him, and He will take care of you. DR

The Power of the Roman Beast

Revelation 12 shows Satan kicked out of heaven and cast to the earth where he persecutes the church and individual Christians, but the earth helps the people of God.

That infuriates Satan and so he brings up from the earth, the sea in particular, a helper who will persecute the church mightily, “Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation” (Revelation 13.6–7).

The Roman beast did all it could with the power of Satan to destroy the church, but Rome failed, and the church prevailed!

Do not let the powers of this earth frighten you, but know that greater is He who is on our side than he who is on the other side. DR
