A busy man

Solomon hired a man from Tyre to make the furnishings of the temple, and while that craftsman had people working for him, he was still a busy man, for he made pots, shovels, and bowls.

He also worked on the two pillars, the bowl-shaped capitals that were on top of the two pillars; the two networks covering the two bowl-shaped capitals which were on top of the pillars; four hundred pomegranates for the two networks (two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals that were on the pillars).

The man, Huram, also made carts, lavers on the carts; a sea, twelve oxen under it; and more pots, shovels, and forks, made of burnished bronze.

He cast these furnishings on the plain of Jordan, and made so much of it that the weight of the bronze was not determined (2 Chronicles 4.11–18).

When we do things for the glory of God, we should do them gloriously, which is what Solomon did and ordered. DR

Do you love life or hate it?

Before you answer that question, think on what Jesus said, “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12.25).

If you love your life, you will do everything you can to spare it, including denying Christ, compromising the truth, or whatever it takes.

If you hate your life, you will place it in the hands of God and let Him do with it according to His will.

Therefore the title of this article is not whether you enjoy your life or not, nor is it whether you are having a good life, but what Jesus taught is that we should not make our personal lives the top priority. DR
