Spiritual Attitude Toward God and His Word Is Essential
- Understanding comes by spiritual receptivity as much as by intellectual effort.
- Some educated people do not or cannot learn the truth.
- Their intelligence is not the problem.
- The problem is their attitude.
- 1Co 1.18–31
- Some less educated people learn the truth and are saved.
- They have good and honest hearts and that good soil leads to fruitfulness.
- See Luke 8.4–18
- Pro 1.7
- Pro 2.1–12
- Pro 4.1–9
- Pro 9.10
- This is not anti-education, but is simply putting the emphasis upon character.
- The Bible encourages us to gain knowledge and wisdom.
- However, the Bible also encourages us to have the right heart.
- Some educated people do not or cannot learn the truth.
- We must have a heart:
- That is prepared
- Ezra 7.10
- That is noble
- Acts 17.11, 12
- That is humble
- Matt 11.25, 26
- Matt 13.10–17
- Matt 18.1–4
- That is of the truth
- John 8.42–47
- John 18.37
- 1Jo 4.5, 6
- That wants to know the truth
- 1Ki 22.8–23
- John 7.16–18
- 2Th 2.8–12
- That is diligent
- 2Ti 2.15
- That is loyal to God
- Rom 3.3, 4
- That does not twist the word
- 2Co 4.2–5
- Gal 1.6–10
- 2Pe 3.14–18
- That is pure of false motives
- Eze 14.1–11
- 2Ti 4.1–4
- That knows the capabilities of the word
- Heb 4.11–13
- That is prepared
