Read Passages Relevant to the Subject
- Do we get the whole counsel of God on a subject by reading passages that do not address that subject?
- If you want to know whether carrots provide any protein, should you read material about meat?
- If you want to know what nutrients carrots provide, what topic should you research at the library?
- Does the fact that meat provides protein negate the fact that carrots provide some protein also?
- Why can people not see this on Bible subjects?
- If you want to know whether carrots provide any protein, should you read material about meat?
- If we want to know what the Bible says on baptism and salvation, should we read passages on faith?
- What passages should we read?
- Should we not read the passages on baptism and salvation?

Do Not Oversimplify Understanding the Scriptures
- We cannot assume that everything in Scripture is easy to understand.
- We have to learn how to understand Scripture even as we have to learn to understand other things in life.
- Are some things plain and simple in Scripture?
- Are some things plain and simple in a cookbook?
- If so, does that mean anyone can understand everything in recipe directions?
- Again, the Bible itself reveals that some things are hard to understand.
- 2Pe 3.16
- What passages or topics do you find difficult to understand?
- We cannot assume that everything in Scripture is easy to understand.

Learn What Bible Passages Apply to Us
- Did God intend for all the Bible to apply to every generation?
- For example, should we build ark as Noah did?
- Explain your answer.
- Another example, should we obey Acts 2.38?
- Explain your answer.
- For example, should we build ark as Noah did?
- Knowing the difference between the Old and New Testaments helps to know what to apply.
- Rom 7.1–7
- Does this mean we should have nothing to do with the Old Testament or narratives that predate it, such as the one about Noah?
