Make a Commitment

Let us not play around with religion, and let us do as King Josiah did, “Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant” (2Ki 23.3).

Josiah made up his mind on what he would do and he did it. He wanted to do all that the Lord commanded and Josiah wanted to do it with all his heart and with all his soul. Do you see a problem with that?

Interestingly, all the people of Judah stood with him in doing this.

How many people could we influence, if we made a commitment like that? DR

The Time of Jesus

Jesus often referred to His time or His hour. Once when His brothers urged Him to go to a feast, He replied, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready” (John 7:6).

The Father in heaven had set a time for Jesus to die, and He could not let anything happen that would bring on His death sooner. Therefore, He could not take instructions from anyone that might deter from that plan.

Yet, the brothers of the Lord, and all of us for that matter, could die any time and it would not alter the Father’s plan for saving the world.

Do we comprehend how the Father and the Son did everything in precise detail to save us from sin and hell? DR
