Wanting Peace When Others Want War

The psalmist showed the distress of his heart, “Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! My soul has dwelt too long with one who hates peace. I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war” (Psalm 120.5–7).

If you seek peace with someone who does not want it, what should you do? Do what the psalmist did. Pray to God about it. DR

Wise Men Among Us

A disagreement comes up between Christians, and one is ready to sue the other. Should those two go before the world to judge their case? Paul said no. He also asked, “I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?” (1 Corinthians 6.5).

When conflict arises between you and another member of the church, seek out several people in the congregation to get their wisdom on the matter, and see how it can be resolved within the congregation. DR
