Unbelievers Receive Wages for Doing the Lord’s Work

Nebuchadnezzar fought hard against Tyre, but showed nothing for it, and his army had truly worn themselves out, even losing hair because his soldiers wore their armor for so long that it rubbed off hair.

The Lord said, “Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to labor strenuously against Tyre; every head was made bald, and every shoulder rubbed raw; yet neither he nor his army received wages from Tyre, for the labor which they expended on it” (Eze 29.17–18).

In exchange for doing God’s work against Tyre, although Nebuchadnezzar did not realize he was working for God, God would give something else to the king of Babylon, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Surely I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he shall take away her wealth, carry off her spoil, and remove her pillage; and that will be the wages for his army. I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor, because they worked for Me,’ says the Lord God” (Eze 29.19–20).

Sure enough, world history shows those very things happening.

Even unbelievers are under the domain of the Lord, although they do not realize it, nor would they even think of confessing it, but when they do His will, He rewards them for it. DR

Mean What You Say, Say What You Mean

What we say ought to be enough so that we should not have to add an oath, as James said, “But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No,’ lest you fall into judgment” (Jam 5.12).

If you have to back up your word with an oath, then if you fail to do as you promised, you shall fall into judgment.

Therefore, only speak what you mean, and mean what you speak, then do what you have stated.

It only needs to be that simple. DR
