Reasons to Keep God’s Commandments

Moses revealed to Israel why they were to keep all the commandments from God, “This day the Lord your God commands you to observe these statutes and judgments; therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. Today you have proclaimed the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice. Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments, and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the Lord your God, just as He has spoken” (Deuteronomy 26.16–19).

1. God commanded them to observe His statutes
2. They claimed Him as their God
3. They promised to walk in all His ways
4. God claimed them as His special people

You know, those things also apply to Christians. Therefore, we should eagerly obey all that the Lord has commanded us as Christians. DR

The Power of Envy

Do you envy someone? If so, do not rest until you get that envy out of your system, lest it destroy you, or cause you to destroy someone, and that ruin your life. The following demonstrates the power and danger of envy, “But Pilate answered them, saying, ‘Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?’ For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy” (Mark 15.9–10).

Pilate sought to release Jesus, knowing that Jesus was innocent, and that the Jewish leaders had handed Him over to Pilate because of their envy of Jesus.

Their envy led them to seek the destruction of Jesus, but their envy later destroyed them. DR
